River of Life

River of Life was commissioned by the city of San Marcos TX.
I designed a representational piece that depicts what the first people would have seen on there arrival to Aquarena Springs on the San Marcos River.
At that time the main spring was shooting 50 feet in the air with a large plume at the top.
I can only imagine the there feelings of aw at the time but we know from a million or more artifacts found at the site that it was a very spiritual experience for them.
I live not far from there and have visited it many times and share there feelings.
The blue glass in the internally lit base represent the water rising and the kinetic piece at the top the plume and rainbow that it would have made.
I would like to thank the people of San Marcos for the opportunity to convey my feelings for such a wonderful place.
